This article began with the title: “The GOP’s Lies This Election.” When I began doing research for the article; as I delved into
My mind is made up, don’t confuse me with the facts.
the literally dozens of Republican lies, I realized that that article will take a while to write. So I decided instead to focus this first article on the three big lies that the National Republican Convention appeared to be based upon. The theme of the convention was these three lies.
The GOP is desperately trying to get the Keystone pipeline approved. What they are telling America in attempt to influence the debate are lies. In this article we will look at what they are saying, and what they are not saying about this pipeline.
1. Building the pipeline will help America get off of “foreign oil.”
“Keystone will bring many benefits to the United States, but I believe the most important role that Keystone will play is to bring energy security to the United States during what has been recently some very unsettling times overseas,” Alex Pourbaix, TransCanada’s president for energy and oil pipelines, said in a congressional hearing in December.
No, I do not think that politics is a game. It is serious business and should be approached as such. However there is a political party in this country that does think it is a game: A game to be won or lost.
The election process is to choose the person best suited to do the job. The primary process is to choose the best person to lead in each political party. Then the best people from each party go up against each other in the general election. That is how our elections are supposed to work. Americans want the best person the political process can churn out to lead this nation. This is how the Democrats pick their nominees. Not so for the Republicans.
Maybe I am naïve, or I have led a sheltered life, but I was shocked at the depth and breadth of the racism and hatred there is for this president for no other reason than he is biracial.
I knew there was racism and hatred in this country towards people who are different. I just didn’t realize that it was prevalent enough in some circles that they feel comfortable saying racist remarks in public on national T.V.
Sandra Fluke: She scares the shit out of Darrell Issa
Once you hear this young woman’s testimony, you will realize why Darrell Issa Republican refused to allow her to testify. Her testimony would have derailed the entire premise of the partisan witch hunt.
Sometimes the actions of the Republicans appear to be baffling. Some of the policies they propose seem to be nothing more than a way to take money and power from the poor and middle class and transfer it to the rich. It appears that way because that is they way it is. Fact: The Republicans favor giving tax cuts to the very rich. Fact: The Republicans favor getting rid of the social safety net. The Republicans favor getting rid of the social safety net so there will be more funds made available to give to their rich patrons through tax cuts. When you give a tax cut to someone, that reduces the revenue going to the federal government. That loss has to be made up somewhere. Right now, that loss is being made up by the American people losing their social services, firemen, policemen, and teachers. This is a direct transfer of money out of the bank accounts of the middle class and the poor into the bank accounts of the very rich.
