McConnell: Covering 30 Million Uninsured Is ‘Not The Issue’

Mitch McConnell “Republican Party before country.”

This is what America is going to get if the people in this great nation insist on voting for Republicans: A repeal of ObamaCares and back to business as usual with the insurance companies. The insurance companies will again be able to drop you when you get sick, refuse to insure those with pre-existing conditions, no more free preventative care, and 50 million people in this country still without insurance placing a huge financial burden on the rest of us as the uninsured use the ER as their primary physician.

People, such as Sen. McConnell (R-KY), continually tell us that America has the best healthcare system in the world, While it is true that a lot of innovation in the medical field come from America, and we do have the best doctors in the world, to call our healthcare system ‘the best in the world’ is a stretch to say the least. We rank first in the world for healthcare costs, and seventh in the world for healthy outcomes. That is not the best healthcare system in the world. We used to be. We used to be ranked first in the world in just about everything. Now we are ranked first in confidence only. In math, science, reading etc., we are failing our kids and our country.

The Republican Party wants to keep this status quo. Do you?

Affordable care is only one of the many things America loses if Republicans have the White House and the majority in the House and Senate: What Happens If the Affordable Care Act Is Struck Down

From Talking Points Memo:

“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Sunday downplayed the need to find an alternate way to insure the 30 million Americans who will get coverage under the President Obama’s health care law.

On Fox News Sunday, McConnell said Republicans want to repeal ‘Obamacare’ and implement “modest” reforms. Host Chris Wallace pressed him on how he would insure 30 million Americans that will get coverage under President Obama’s reforms.

“That is not the issue,” McConnell said. “The question is how can you go go step by step to improve the American health care system. It is already the finest health care system in the world.”

Wallace responded, “You don’t think 30 million uninsured is an issue?”

“Let me tell you what we’re not going to do,” McConnell said. “We’re not going to turn the American health care system into a western European system.”’

I would like to say here that the western European healthcare system has better outcomes than ours, so why not?

If you think the GOP is going to do anything about healthcare if they repeal Obamacares, you are sadly mistaken. The very definition of Conservatism is maintaining the status quo, If you would like to keep the status quo with our healthcare system and the insurance companies that run it, vote for Republicans. Otherwise, vote for anyone other than a Republican or Libertarian.
