The House of Representatives is once again debating a bill to address a problem that doesn’t exist. The bill they are debating on the House floor right now is to ban abortions that are used for gender selection. There is absolutely no evidence that anyone in America has ever had an abortion to select their child’s gender. None, zero, nada, zip.
Just like the laws passed by Republicans in Kansas and Oklahoma that ban the use of Sharia Law in American courts, the Republicans are again taking up bills that have to do with everything other than helping the American people. Has Sharia Law ever been used in American courts? No. Will it ever be used? No.
(I believe the next bill coming up is to regulate unicorn breeding farms).
The Republicans are doing everything they can do except for helping the American people. The Republicans in this country, on the state and federal level are basically biding their time, waiting to get back into power so they can continue plundering America for the greedy rich.
There is a transportation bill in the House of Representatives right now that would create and preserve about 3 million construction jobs. In fact, by not acting on the bill, construction workers are taking a hit. Boehner and the House Republicans are costing Americans their jobs by refusing to help the American people. Yet, Rep. Boehner, (the worst Speaker of the House in America history), won’t even bring the bill to the House floor for a vote. Why? Because if the economy improves there is a good chance Obama gets reelected and the Republican Party’s main priority, defeating President Obama, wouldn’t be realized.
The House Republicans have stopped every bill that would help the economy. Instead they have been focused on social issues like abortion. In fact the third bill passed in the House of Representatives after the Republicans got the majority was a bill that banned federal money being used for abortions. (In case you don’t know, it is already illegal to use federal monies for abortions. In other words, this bill is worth less than the paper used to print it).
Republicans are not interested in governing. Republicans are not interested in helping Americans. From their actions, Republicans are apparently not interested in democracy either. Their only goal is to attain and maintain power. They want, and have been working towards for three decades, a “permanent Republican majority” as articulated by Karl Rove and Newt Gingrich in the 1990s.
What do you call a permanent right-wing government like the Republicans want? Well, it was said best by an infamous head of state in the middle of the 20th century: What the Republicans want is their very own “thousand-year Reich.” The Republican Party is so far to the right at this time that it has now become the Fascist party of America.
Continue electing Republicans and this is what you are going to get. A Congress and administration that are focused on the redistribution of wealth from the poor and middle class to the greedy rich, passing bills addressing problems that don’t exist, and banning abortions.
