The Redistribution of Wealth

All tax systems redistribute the wealth of a country. Let me repeat that: All tax systems redistribute the wealth. The question isn’t whether to redistribute or not; the question is in which direction do you want the redistribution to go?

Taxpayers pay into a governmental system that then takes that money and redistributes it through government spending that benefits everyone.

Our taxes go to pay soldiers and doctors and nurses to take care of those soldiers when they get injured. Our taxes pay for all of the workers’ wages in the defense industry. Our taxes pay for Pell grants so the poor and the middle class can attend college. This is just a few of the ways our taxes, (wealth), are redistributed downwards to the masses.

Republicans As Vulture Capitalists

I was watching cable news and there was a business expert explaining how venture capitalism companies like Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital make their money. I was only partially listening when something the man on my screen said caused a light to turn on in my head. A huge puzzle was solved as all the pieces clicked into place.

These venture capitalism companies, (sometimes called vulture capitalism which is a more apt description), take over another company and then borrow money against the company’s assets. They use this borrowed money to pay themselves millions of dollars in fees. The companies they take over are expected to pay that debt back. If the company can’t pay it, they have to declare bankruptcy. The investment company then sells off the assets and walks away with their fees intact.

The Biggest News Story Never Reported

Why aren’t the network newscasts or the cable news channels reporting on this? This has been called the biggest financial scandal in history, and yet, barely a peep from those who are supposed to inform us.

The same people who brought us the economic depression of 2008 are involved in this newest case of organized fraud. The biggest names in banking have been manipulating the LIBOR, (London Interbank Offered Rate), for years. The LIBOR is the rate that banks charge each other to borrow money.

America Already Has Universal Health Care Coverage

That’s right we do. People argue that we need universal health care in this country. They want everyone to have access to quality health care. Everyone in this country already has that.

Every person, citizen or not, within the borders of the United States can walk into any emergency room, anywhere in the country, and that emergency room, by law, has to treat that person. So you see, we already have universal health care.

The question isn’t whether we are going to deliver universal health care to our citizens; the question is how that health care is delivered.

Romney’s Bain Capital invested in companies that moved jobs overseas

Outsourcing American jobs since the 1980s

Romney’s whole platform for running for president is that since he was in the private sector he knows how to create jobs. As it turns out, he does know how to create jobs…in China, India etc.

Not only did Romney ship American jobs overseas, his company was a ‘pioneer’ aka the first company to do it. It was Romney and his company that set the trend that has devastated this country and our economy.

Thanks Mitt.

You Can Change the Channel, but Local News Is the Same

This is another example of how corporate America is attempting to turn the clock back to a time before regulation. They want to go back to a time of corporate monopolies. As far as regulation goes, corporate America would love to be living in the 1890s right now. (Along with the Republicans).

“SAN ANGELO, Tex. — Call a reporter at the CBS television station here, and it might be an anchor for the NBC station who calls back. Or it might be the news director who runs both stations’ news operations.
