As Americans we need to look into the mirror and decide what kind of country we want to be. Do we want to be the type of country where the obscenely wealthy make millions upon millions of dollars per year while more people than ever are living in poverty? Do we want to be the type of country where corporations are making more money than ever, while the American worker is working harder for less money?

Who Should Pay off the Deficit and Debt?
by J Stepper • • 0 Comments
That is essentially the question that is being debated in Washington DC today.
The Democrats want the working poor, the middle class, the elderly, and the wealthy to all help lower the deficit and pay off the debt.
The Republicans want the working poor, middle class, and the elderly alone to lower the deficit and pay off the debt.
The Greedy Rich, who run the Republican Party, want the nation to focus on the debt and deficit because they don’t want us to notice they are stealing all of our money and wealth and giving it to the Greedy Rich.
More Proof GOP Policies are Harmful to America

Republican economic policies are hurting America’s ability to recover from the Republican-created economic meltdown of 2008. What’s worse; the Republicans know it and they just don’t care. Their ideology is more important to them than anything else, including the survival of this democracy. If the GOP can’t run the country their way, then it won’t run at all. (Just look at the last four years of obstructionism from the Republicans for proof of that statement).
A couple of days ago, I posted an article about austerity, (cutting spending), and how it was slowing down the economic recovery in Europe. Stimulus or Austerity? Four Years Later Now we have proof, right here in America, right now.
Stimulus or Austerity? Four Years Later
by J Stepper • • 1 Comment
It has been four years since we had the worldwide economic meltdown. Different countries took different routes to rescue their economies. We now have enough data to see which of these methods worked.
In Europe, they decided that they needed to cut spending on domestic programs to get out of the economic mess they were in.
In America, even though the Republicans insisted on spending cuts only, President Obama knew better and he got some stimulus dollars through Congress.
So lets compare the different methods used and the effectiveness of each method.
The Gatekeepers for the Greedy Rich

The differences between the two political parties in this past November’s elections could not have been starker.
Mitt Romney and the Republicans ran on a platform of protecting the wealth of the greedy rich and having the rest of America pay for the debt the greedy rich caused by cutting the social safety net.
President Obama and the Democrats ran on a platform of raising taxes on the greedy rich so they could start paying their fair share.
The bottom line: Democrats – make the greedy rich pay more. Republicans – make the middle class and the poor pay more.
When Karma Results in Schadenfreude

Schadenfreude is a German word that means getting pleasure from someone else’s misfortune.
Elizabeth Warren is a bankruptcy expert and a law professor at Harvard. She is best known for her unwavering stance against the big banks and Wall Street during and after the economic crisis. Part of the government’s “solution” to the crisis was to form an agency called The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Elizabeth Warren was tapped to form this agency and it was largely assumed she would be the one running it. This was unacceptable to the big banks and the greedy rich so they got their political arm, (the Republican Party), to ensure she did not get the chance to run CFPB.
